I just recently acquired a 20-400amp
digital clamp-on current probe and
decided to see just how much current this
baby draws.  I built a test
pig-tail extension cord (1ft, 12ga) so I
could clamp the probe around just
the hot lead of the line.
Coffenut,

    I am interested in doing
the same thing with my RoyalMax 2 pound roaster.  I want to figure out
exactly how much each roast is costing me in electricity costs.  Can you
tell me where you acquired the meter and about how much it would cost me to get
one?

Thanks,

Take a look at Menards or Fleet&Farm. GB Electrical makes a nice clamp on current meter, both in analog and digital versions. It's pretty nice and not too expensive, tho I'm not sure of the exact price in the store. I've used these quite a bit, and find them pretty accurate.
