As to the chaff issue, it is a real one. I think the best solution (other than removing the drum after each roast*) is to use a vacuum cleaner "crevice cleaner" to slide into the chaff-tray slot. I had to cut mine down a little bit, but I've noticed others that look like they would fit, no problem. *I used to remove the drum after each roast -- even bought a fancy-schmancy Dewalt electric screwdriver to aid in the effort. But somewhere around the 80- or 90- roast level I managed to slightly cross-thread one of the bracket mounting holes, so now I hardly ever remove the drum. I'm using the Bob Yellin "don't put the beans in until five minutes after it asks for them" method, and I think the chaff burns up during that five minutes. At least I hope so. :-) -- Rick |
