I have used a roaster like it, for fun. Its a neat starting place for a
home-built spit-style roaster. One problem: It wont roast well as is. Its
just a metal cylinder with a sliding door ...it needs to have some sort of
agitation "vanes" or ribs on the inside to allow the coffee to really
agitate instead of sliding to the bottom of the cylinder as you turn it...
Also, a lot of these were really made as chestnut roasters, maybe dual use,
but not only as coffee roasters. It would be fun to take this design and do
something with it using new materials ...rust doest taste too good with
your coffee!
