Topic: Another presto poplite question (5 msgs / 97 lines)
1) From: Brian Kamnetz
I haven't been paying attention to this thread, but stopped by the thrift
store this morning and saw a Poplite with no plastic top for $2. This
popper has the wire mesh screen at the bottom, as opposed to the
"recommended" versions with air slots on the sides. Does the Poplite work
for roasting coffee?
Thanks,
Brian

Some people have had success with these popper. Tom recommends not using
them because the chaff can fall thru the meshed screen, possible fire
hazard.

OTOH, for people who have used them, I have never heard of that happening
AND how can chaff fall down with that kind of air blowing up? I think they
are fine to use. YMMV

Thanks, Ron. I've seen reference to the fire hazard but didn't understand
the nature of the hazard.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
I've seen the occasional flash of flaming chaff when using my poplite, =
but, as you inferred - hot air goes up, it was already on it's way up =
the glass chimney and had flamed out by the time it hit the top end. =
Just added to the ambiance of the evenings roast.
Bob - ooooo fireworks!
