Topic: Guatemala Genuine Antigua Bella Carmona (2 msgs / 36 lines)
1) From: John Abbott
We've been surprised by a gift of Guatemala Genuine Antigua Bella
Carmona coffee beans by friends returning to the states after a trip to
the area. We also have some high altitude altura from Mexico to roast
tonight. We just finished a roast of the Bella Carmona and if its
anything like it smells (and the sample bean I chewed) I'm going to
want a lot of this one. Smells of spices and a faint hint of carmel
surrounded the machine as we roasted. I'll get back in a day or two
and let you know how it cups - but I know its killer class.

oohhhh aahhhh! If I weren't already a deeply committed Central
American Coffee drinker, I would have just converted. It is nothing
like I've had from Guatemala! Nice complexity with a great lingering
after taste. Full bodied with a few chocolate notes. All in all -
spectacular.
This was my first encounter with Hascienda Carmona plantation and
clearly it will not be my last. I am impressed with how it developed
over the resting period. The chocolate notes were not there in the 24
hour shots I pulled. 48 hours seems to be the right amount of rest.
If there is any left I'll give it a try tomorrow as well to see if the
sweet notes keep developing.
