Yes it is, but the price that dairy farmers are paid for milk has
little or nothing to do with the price that the public pays for milk,
just as the price of coffee at Starbucks has little or nothing to do
with the price that growers receive. And, just as coffee growers
sometimes find the price so low that it's not worth picking the
cherries, dairy farmers sometimes find the price so low that it's not
worth the cost to sell their milk. But, they still have to milk the
cows twice a day and that's why the milk gets dumped out -- that and
that it also helps publicize their plight.
