Hello everyone. Way back when... I thought the FAN had gone out on my Alpenröst. However, today... seven months later... (I've been using my RK Roasting Drum #41 in the mean time) I finally got around to taking it apart. Taking the Alp apart wasn't as difficult as I thought and I mainly wanted to see what kind of fan it was to see if I could replace it myself. That said, once I got it opened up, all I did was take an air compressor and REALLY clean it all out. You wouldn't believe all the chaff and gunk that gets in all the hidden places on the Alp. Once I cleaned it (I mean REALLY cleaned it) inside and out... it works just like new. If you want to see what's inside an Alp (prior to cleaning)...http://www.cyberbound.net/coffee/alpenrost-inside.jpgSo, if your Alp seems dead because of a fan that just stops running during the roast... you might just need to clean out the insides. Of course... if it's still under warranty... that's another story. Unfortunately, mine was out of warranty and dead... so, I had nothing to lose. Anyway, always make sure it is unplugged from power before opening. Besides the obvious screws on the bottom, there are also two hidden screws under the rubber feet on the Bean Cup end of the roaster. I hope this helps someone. My Alp is back to doing my small roasts and I love it! Take care, Brice |
