I am sipping an Americano of the Panama Auction Winner -Jaramillo Especial. The first thing I noticed was when grinding this bean it has fantastic coffee aroma. I pulled a standard double shot. Fantastic crema and aroma filled the kitchen. I took a sip and BAM BOOM too much the high notes blasted the palate. I made a standard Americano. TOM HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!!!!!! Now this is one fantastic cup of coffee. If this is unbalanced, give me more. Maybe it is the preparation. Tom, have you had an Americano of this stuff? It isn't one bit thin. The body fills the mouth. There is a wonderful aftertaste with no hint of bitterness. It has an island smoothness and I can detect the African roots with a fruity complexity that isn't overbearing. There seems to be a nice balance of citrus and caramel with some blackberry and current undertones. This is one complex cup. I like it better than ISH!!!! This is what an Americano should taste like. This is just too good to mix with the Brazil! My next cup with be one of Mike McKoffee's famous 5 x 5s! Becky went back to bed after watching the puppies. Who knows if she is going to get her Cappo! This is a multi-part message in MIME format. Hey Les, how dark did you roast this? My Jarmillo order arrives tomorrow and I'd love to know what you did to get these fabulous flavors. Thanks! Aaron |
Aaron, I roasted it a couple of snaps into second crack. UPDATE: The 5x5 (5oz Lungo and 5oz of hot water) was a little tamer than the standard Americano. It was excellent however! I am sipping a rare drink for me a Cappo. Wow! does the sweetness of the bean come out with the milk added. Real caramel here! (I had to check it out before serving Becky one! If I didn't know better I would say someone slipped a teaspoon or two of sugar in this cup! I went to order Becky her pound of this stuff and Tom is out! Les "AARON W. The plan is to roast a few snaps into second! ;-) One lb looks so small. I think I'll roast it all at once. A little mass never hurts. Even if I blow it, thank you Tom and Maria for providing me with this opportunity for a new experience, likely to be remembered or talked about for quite some time. Allen am |
I just roasted 1 lb to a city ++ just a hint before 2nd crack. I roasted it for a list member and was treated to 1/3 of it as a treat for roasting it. It came out great and the aroma was wonderful . RK drum roasted and the weight loss was 16 percent ended up with 378 grams that will be 126 grams apiece. It is going to be split 3 ways. West coast to east coast and back to the west coast this coffee is well traveled. RK |
Yeah, well as long as it wasn't out of mine :-) It's good to be the king ... DJ Waiting for my pound ... |
