Hi-- This is exactly how I use the Yama. I bring the water to boil on the stove, then put it on the stand that you can get for the Bodum Santos; then I put the Hario Micro butane burner (most brilliant coffee accessory I can think of!) underneath the Yama, put on the top part with the coffee, and voilą-- perfect coffee! I find that even the lowest flame on my conventional stove is too high for the stovetop vacuum brewing (but I should add that I have one of those "professional" stoves that put out higher BTU); I like to ease the water up as slowly as possible, and let it brew very gently in the top part, before removing the heat. I'm sure you can get the stand alone for this purpose either from Tom, or directly from the Bodum company, and the butane burner can be had directly from Hario (I don't think Tom carries them, though, of course, check in with him first).
