Topic: Elespresso Pump Machine (46 lines)
1) From: Tony
I beg the pardon of those who have seen my posts regarding this machine on
alt.coffee, but I am looking for information from anyone who may have had
one of these machines or known of them. Here is the URL for the pictures I
posted at Zing:http://www.zing.com/album/?idB92556949I found this at a garage sale and got the price down to $40.
It says on the back:
Menalux E80 D, 1100W, 110VAC
It very closely resembles a Saeco Classico, except that it has a side load 2
liter water tank and the entire top of the machine is a warming tray. The
portafilter is very heavy and appears to be chrome-plated brass.
The matching grinder is a conical burr unit. There is a base unit with two
drawers, one for accessories and the other is a knock box. It came to me
with a stainless frothing pitcher and a set of six stainless capaccino cups,
saucers and spoon.
I spent 4 hours cleaning it. It appears to be 12-15 years old, used for a
few months, and then allowed to sit for years.
The company, Elespresso, operated out of Salem, Massachussets. As I can find
no information on them I assume they are out of business. This machine was
an OEM from Menalux in Switzerland and imported to the USA.
Any Info would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, I got some of Tom's Monkey Blend and Classic Espresso Blend. Both are
excellent. I got some Starbucks French Roast at the local Costco to use at
the office the other day and find the stuff completely undrinkable. Now I
understand why all of you refer to them as "Charbucks"! I take my roasts
well into second crack, and they don't taste anything like Starbucks. (I
guess that's good...)
Thanks!
