Hi Andy We have had the same type of thing happen. Didn't like the roast then mixed it with other "left over" roasts or just wanted to "get rid of it" and found that it wasn't too bad. Now did the coffee get better or do we (husband and I)just like some coffees stale? As it was suggested write your findings in a log and see what happens - that's the fun of doing this. Gloria; Isn't that what folks call Mongrel Blend? The only frustration with that is I hit a wonderful blend with the remnants and hadn't documented it - it was wonderful coffee that I'll never be able to duplicate. I now even document my mongrel blend - just in case. John |
John, Didn't know it had a name but some of it sure tastes good while others (like my Mongrel blend last night) are shall we say awful, undrinkable lol. My husband took a sip and the muscles in the throat did a cute little dance. He didn't say a word just kept reading. Took another sip, glanced at me out of the corner of his eye and kept reading. As he lifted the cup for the third time the comment was "Have you tried this". Laughing said no how is it (like I didn't know). Comment back Undrinkable. So a new pot was made in the Utopia We win, we lose and we learn Gloria --http://natures-emporium.com/Jewelry, jade, quartz, decor items, bookends homeroast mailing listhttp://lists.sweetmarias.com/mailman/listinfo/homeroast |
<Snip> I *think* I started calling it a "mongrel blend" on this list - the remnants of roasts I toss together in the freezer and that often brews the best cuppas. I say *think*, because I'm not sure, and I don't want to claim "credit" for the phrase if I inadvertently read it in someone else's post and just adopted it. (I also call it Gary's Goodtime Blend, but that's rather egotistical.) <Snip> That is the fun of this hobby! <Snip> Amen, Gloria, amen. -- garyZ homeroast mailing listhttp://lists.sweetmarias.com/mailman/listinfo/homeroast |
