Whether or not coffee in mixed drinks is a good idea (and I think
that, on occasion it can be...on a cold, damp winter's night, Irish
coffee can really hit the spot...), I'm enough of a purist to say
that it has no place in anything called a martini.
A martini contains: Gin, vermouth and either an olive or a twist of
lemon. I'll live with calling the same drink made with vodka a
"vodka martini." Anything else just isn't a martini, and I don't
care what glass you serve it in. But there's a lot of James Bond
prestige (I guess) attached to the martini name, so everyone is
calling everything a "martini" these days. Heck, the Bitter End
(linked to above) even calls gin + vermouth + two onions a "Gibson
Martini." This is an absolutely classic drink, but it's just called
a Gibson.
Feeling comfortable being a food 'n' drink snob on this list,

Yuck. I have no love for mixed drink tradition, as lush as it is, but that's
disgusting. And they weren't even creative! "Black Martini". Duh. How dull.
Hows about, "One Noirtini. Existentially shaken, not stirred."
By any other name still a poofter slurp if ever I've run across one. IMO, of
course.
speaking of espresso, hos is the Classic Blend??? I'm STILL waiting to get
the Gaggia up and running so I haven't tried it yet...
