Well, I may have to think again, but not tonight. Tonight I just ramble. So far i love Horse. Honest, I read what is posted by Les (no offense Les) and then I buy it 'cause it sounds so great, but then I realize that Les has diff taste buds than I do. So, it is probably good coffee, but not for me and mine. Then I see what you all are blending, and lo.. I do not have any of that. But I do have lots of coffee that Les likes :) I do like what some people on this list like though. Scott is one of those ( no fair tellign which scott either he he) So I may try the blends that he recommends. However, I do not have any of thosE!! Oh well They all sound good. Hey! I thinlk it is better to blend before roasting, that way they all get mixed good! otoh, if you want to roast each bean to a diff level, it is hard to do that by pre blendding. hope this is okay to send, cheers, peterZ |

Peter, As a self appointed harar freak, I like the flexability of Harar. Want fruit then roast City +, Too Fruity??? Full City More Chocolate ??? Full City + Want it all? Roast up a batch at each level, then blend. Wait 72 hours. Enjoy !!!! (Harar does not *need* another bean to tase good !!! But it also goes great 50/50 with just about anything in your stash bins. Java, MNEB,Guat, are some that I enjoyed lately. FWIW, I bought 10 #'s of the lot 30 (blue horse) I'm down to 6 #'s....in less than a month...I can't help myself, must roast more!!! ;-) Gary -- "I may be wrong, but I'm never in doubt." MM |
Peter, No offense taken. My problem is I like them all! Now that Tom has so many great coffees, I am going to have to be more careful. My stash has grown big again. I found another 5 pounder of a favorite from last year. I find myself ordering small batches as I try to reduce the stash. The Harrar 30 was gone before I bought another 5 pounder! Right now I have a self imposed limit of 2 pounders max, and I am trying to hold off for the Panamas and CoEs that Tom brings in. I have coffee that I bought 7 months ago that I have not tried yet! Alchemist John and I have very different top coffees. So I understand. Les On 4/14/06, Peter Zulkowski wrote: <Snip> ribes) go tohttp://sweetmarias.com/maillistinfo.html#personalsettings<Snip> |
I have ~ 35 pounds of the Harrar 30. I'm going to be forced to drink it on a regular basis. I have yet to try it as an espresso. 2 pound limit Les? Sounds like you enjoy torture... On 4/14/06, Les wrote: <Snip> |
Wes, you will enjoy the horse if you like coffee that is NOT run of the mill. taste buds are so different, personal style for coffee is a challange (sp) for all; I like espresso and drink 90% espresso, the horse is great, it also make a fabulous cafe crema. ginny <Snip> |
Wesley, If having too many varieties is torture, bring it on! I still have a 2 pounder of Costa Rican Miel that I have not tapped into! I enjoyed one of the new India coffees this AM and I am going to roast some Mexican Hildalgo and Brazil Yellow Bourbon this week as my "oldies" and the new CoE Red Bourbon Brazilian as my "newbie" I roasted the Decaf African Highland Blend as my afternoon coffee for yesterday, simply outstanding! The stash is way over 100lbs again. I don't even know how big right now. Reminds me of Rockefeller, when asked how much money he had. He said, "I don't know, and if you do you aren't rich." The reporter then asked, "How do you know how much is enough?" Rockefeller said, "Just one dollar more." In coffee language, just one more varietal! Les Loving every minute of the this kind of problem. On 4/17/06, Wesley Simon wrote: <Snip> on <Snip> ? <Snip> it <Snip> o <Snip> |
Les, Too many varieties is not torture, having two pounds of something excellent and then running out of it is torture! I'm up over 100 lbs myself. I have only been roasting since October! Looks like I need a lesson in stash reduction. Wes On 4/17/06, Les wrote: <Snip> t <Snip> o <Snip> y <Snip> f <Snip> |
