I am hosting Portland's first Coffee Meetup this week. I will be doing this monthly. You cans signup here: http://coffee.meetup.com/202/events/4990602/When: Monday, July 3, 2006, 5:30 PM This is United Coffee Meetup Day Where: Ristretto Roasters 3520 NE 42nd Ave. Portland, OR Portland , OR 97213 (503) 284-6767 Info Map/Directions Description: Ristretto (Italian for ³restricted,² and a term used for the first sweet burst of espresso) Roasters founder and coffee roaster Din Johnson handcrafts every batch of beans, roasting them on-site in a vintage Probat roaster. He will be on hand personally for a tour of the operation! We will be allowed after hours access to the insider secrets coffee geeks like us crave! Ristretto roasts coffee every day, and no roasted coffee is kept more than seven days. The café also features a traditional espresso bar, homemade baked goods, mid-century furnishings, a rotating roster of modern art, and free WiFi. All Ristretto Roasters coffees are medium-roasted, allowing the consumer to experience the flavors of the coffee (rather than merely the roast). This can take some persuading, as customers come into the café convinced they only like the deepest, darkest roast. Have fun! One day too short a notice to make it over, especially the day before the 4th. Kona Konnaisseur miKe mcKoffee URL to Rosto mods, FrankenFormer, some recipes etc:http://mdmint.home.comcast.net/coffee/Rosto_mod.htmUltimately the quest for Koffee Nirvana is a solitary path. To know I must first not know. And in knowing know I know not. Each Personal enlightenment found exploring the many divergent foot steps of Those who have gone before. <Snip> |
Dave, Have a good meet, perhaps you could give us a bit more notice next month. A little hard to make it on such short notice. I made the 1st PDX Coffee Meetup. It was held at Ristretto's, which is just down the street from Jim and Patty Robert's (founders of Coffee People) coffee shop. I got a nice 8oz latte with a rosetta pulled by a barista wearing a Threadless Captain Awesome shirt. The turn out was smaller than our PNWG meeting, but there was next to no notice. Luckily, I had recovered from my grand adventure Sunday. I drove to Tacoma and picked up a Faema Due S single group semi-automatic machine. As soon as I convince my family to remove the dryer and line dry clothes or I get a new 220 outlet wired in, I will be learning to pull my own espresso shots. Okay, I still have to get my Mazzer together, but still... yippee! |
This is a multi-part message in MIME format. Congratulations.Once hooked on espresso there is no turning back. |
