I'm totally with Mike. All I do is esspresso shots for cappuccinos, and having started originally with predominantly dark roasts I nowadays stay away from 2nd crack in most of my roasts, after having discovered the real flavor in the coffee origins that get muted or obliterated by the darker roast. Some of the finest espresso cafes (all that I know of actually), ones that pull excellent shots, do not roast dark well into 2nd. I think you'd find quite a few if not the majority of List members who are into espresso don't roast dark either. If you're talking Charbucks sure, but *$ does not equal good espresso.
