I went to the farmer's market this morning. The sister and BIL of one of
Ron's co-workers recently started a coffee business and have a booth
there. Oh ick. They bought into some scheme where they buy beans
produced *and roasted* in Papua New Guinea, import them, and then
repackage them for resale under their own name.
The business was slow to get started because the shipment (remember we
are talking pre-roasted beans) got held up in customs for three months.
There hasn't been an issue with us not buying beans from them, because
they know I home roast. But now that they have a stand at the market, I
felt like I had to buy a cup of coffee from them.
Oh my. I have no idea if it was the old beans or the way they brewed the
shtuff, but this coffee was really terrible. One flat weak cup. Once I
was out of sight, I threw it away.
I had to wonder how it tastes to people brewing Folgers in their Mr
Coffee drip machines.
