Recently, the adjusting ring broke on my Maestro Plus grinder.  This  is the 
little plastic piece that allows you to adjust the grind.  I  contacted the 
Manufacturer and they kindly sent me a  new one, no  charge.
 
I went about replacing the ring, taking the outer cover off of the grinder  
to expose it's innards.  The ring snapped right on, no problem.  So  far, so 
good.  But......
 
Now it won't work at all.  It's as if it has no power.  I have  looked and 
looked and can't see anywhere where something got disconnected.  
 
Can anyone help here?

Have you rotated the hopper to a position where you can adjust the  
burrs? Also, make sure the hopper is on absolutely level and  
securely.  I panic every time I disassemble my SM+ for cleaning, and  
then remember it will not work at all unless everything is properly  
aligned.

If you go to the Baratza web site and click on parts and cleaners, you =

see the replacement ring you were sent. At the bottom of the image there =
is
a "click here" for detailed instructions for the replacement. These =
might be
helpful.
When I replaced the ring on my Maestro Plus, I had to file the notches =
in
the hopper to fit the wider tabs on the adjustment ring. It works fine =
now.

The plastic Grind Adjustment Ring is turned by the hopper to index the upper
burr height for the grinding pitch and operates the grinder shutoff
