One of the big differences I notice when roasting in my bread machine, rather than in my IR2, is the difference in bean expansion. I just did some calculating, and today's roast doubled in volume, and lost 11% in weight when pulled just at the initial pops of second crack. In my IR2, the weight loss is about the same, but I get much less expansion. I can't really compare roast times, as I roast a max of 150 grams in the IR2, and a whole lot more in the bread machine. More info... I was roasting Tom's Moka Kadir blend, and I know he goes to great lengths to get the moisture content to equalize. I also know that the weight loss sure seems greater in SO beans. I am assuming Tom's efforts are responsible for this difference in the MK. v Vicki Smith wrote: <Snip> |
Seems like the last time I checked it, 5 cups became 8 cups and the weight loss was about 16%. On 12/3/06, Vicki Smith wrote: <Snip> -- Safe Journeys and Sweet Music Justin Marquez (CYPRESS, TX) |
Huh, I have found my personal expansion to be inversely proportional to my weight loss ... :-) On 12/3/06, Vicki Smith wrote: <Snip> |
