Depends on how it tastes and what you don't like about it.
If the brightness/acidity tastes rough or astringent to you, try roasting it
a little longer. (deCadmus recently posted a great tip for lighter roasts -
roast until the smell goes from grassy/astringent to fruity/sweet). If it
tastes fruity and you don't like that, try roasting it a lot longer -- a dark
full city roast will have more chocolate tastes, less fruity tastes. A
setting of 1:30 to 2 o'clock on the HWP should do it.
If your coffee tastes bitter or rancid; it isn't the bean or the roast. It's
probably accumulated stale oils in your coffeemaker. Use cleancaf, urnex, or
if out of these, a mix of 1/4 lemon juice, 3/4 water to clean it.
Hope whatever you try works,

I'm not sure what roaster you are using but you might try adding another =
1/2 oz of beans, this will help heat it up. Do you use a thermometer? It =
needs to be over 400 deg to reach 2nd crack.
I'm having trouble with my new Fresh Roast Plus but I am roasting inside =
in the fireplace. Maybe it's conspiracy.

Alex,
By all means try Jim's (and others') suggestions re: roast times, cleaning, etc. You may end up liking Harar after all. That said, my experience with this coffee is similar to yours. I've about concluded that Harar is just not my cup of coffee. It always seems a bit harsh to me, even though I truly love nearly every other African coffee I've ever roasted.
