Lynne - Sounds really rough. Best wishes for a continued recovery. A word of caution about cipro and caffeine. I took cipro for 4 weeks, back in April/May. At the same time I was drinking on average 2 pints of coffee a day (which is the norm for me). Two weeks into it I started to feel like crap - jittery, fatigue plus insomnia, etc. I cut my coffee down to about 2 cups a day, but it didn't help. When I finally bothered to read the drug interaction precautions, the day _after_ my last dose, I discovered that cipro amplifies the effects of caffeine. Based on how I felt, I'd say it doubled, if not tripled, the effect. I'm not trying to rain on your parade, and it might not affect you the same way, but it's definitely something to be conscious of. -Dave On Sat, Jul 12, 2008 at 3:16 AM, Lynne wrote: ... <Snip> ... Thank you, Dave - I went by my gut feelings (pun intended, ha) and didn't drink coffee at all while I was taking it. Don't know if it was due to that, or the fasting, or my poor health, but not only didn't I feel right when drinking even a bit of coffee at the time, it tasted awful. I actually thought it was my roasting technique that had gone bad! (my son didn't want to tempt me, but he did tell me the roasts were great despite what I thought..) Very happy to be able to enjoy a cup now - and while I'm feeling better (lots), I know I'm not out of the woods yet. If I'm headed for surgery (won't know until September), then I might end up getting off of caffeine again for awhile - as it is, I'm limiting myself to a small amt each day, just as a precaution. The current FDA warning about cipro says that one can develop tendinitis from taking it! (have a previous knee injury that has now flared... hoping this is just passing - like I need to trade one health problem for another!!) I'm just hoping that it's not too late for healthy eating and exercise to improve my health enough to avoid surgery. Ugh.
