What is IMV? I've got the Koratjie, but I don't think the IMV.
And, maybe y'all can help me with a recurring issue. I have a Gaggia
Express Delux (from SM's). The group head valve - or whatever it is -
leaks. I usually change it about every 8 months, when it starts leaking
about 1 ounce each time I use it. I've tried taking it apart and soaking it
in CleanCaf - but 1) it doesn't appear gunky, and 2) it doesn't seem to
help. Last time I bought two replacement thingys, and one worked, the other
leaked as badly as the one I was replacing. I didn't throw out the one that
didn't work, though. I noticed something different about the two: one had
the notch in the top 'hex bolt' lined up with a flat side of the bottom hex,
the other (which didn't work) had the notch opposite an angle of the other
half . Did that make sense?
I do have hard water here, but use distilled water (with a splash of tap or
spring water) instead, as Importika suggested. Plain spring water causes the
same problem.
Any ideas? I am frustrated by this. Otherwise I love my little machine.
