At the moment I only know of one of them, the first doctor decided =
that my wife and daughter had simply failed to notice the symptoms of menta=
l deterioration earlier and that I was surrounded by ignorant relatives who=
failed to recognize the slow and consistent development of mental disabili=
ty. He recommended that I be installed in an institution for mental disa=
bility and expected to live there until I died a good many years down the l=
ine. I am afraid that their discussion of the other two has not covered =
details but has just applied some negative labels to them a few times. When=
they are discussed my wife and daughter express some anger and I'm feeling=
right now that I don't want to make them suffer through the uncomfortable =
aspects of behavior prior to their successful effort to assemble a committe=
e of four who called for quite frequent brain tests, I'm afraid that I can'=
t recall the name of the type but they repeatedly put my head in a
machine that did very detailed scan of the structure of my brain and they =
found a problem show up in one of these that was only a few days later than=
an other one the did not. Within two house of this appearance of the pr=
oblem I was hospitalized and under medication. Within a few days of t=
his medication I started regaining consciousness. However, I thought I w=
as getting worse because I could keep seeing more thing that I could not re=
member. The problem was that I was unaware of the three weeks of total u=
nconsciousness and for the first several days I kept comparing the returnin=
g mind to the total memory before the period of unconsciousness. It was onl=
y after a few days that I was informed that my mind was coming back after b=
eing completely gone for three weeks and that I was making a mistake by com=
paring the returning memory with the total memory I recalled and realized t=
hat I am making progress. A week ago I would not have been able to
recall nearly enough to write this account of what happened. And, I pro=
bably would not have been able to take the stance that my wife and daughter=
simply do not want to deal with some of the more unpleasant aspects of thi=
s struggle which made me one of the four percent successfully treated. =
My head was examined by head x-ray frequently enough that the problem=
was subject to very quick treatment after the previous x-ray had not found=
it.
Once I am better, I am going to try to collect a series of cases on dea=
ling with this kind of health problem and see if I can identify patterns th=
at cause people to delay identifying the problem, it is really different, t=
o the point that it is too late to use the treatment of save patients in a =
majority of cases. There are only about a thousand of these cases in the=
US in a year and treatment is only successful in about forty. I really =
believe thorough and repeated testing for tumors for several weeks in cases=
where a sudden loss of mental ability occurs could lead to an increase =
in more successful treatments.
Sorry to have taken so long, but I wanted to get this out.
Also our new roaster just arrived, I've got to open it and start l=
earning about it.
