http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item76207354Somebody on eBay has a WB Poppery II going for almost $40! Aren't these
things still in production? When I started homeroasting (okay, like a month
ago...) I had to get another one because my kids love to watch corn popping
in one and I was ashamed of myself because I paid $7 at the Salvation Army.
The first one I got for $3 and walked away from 2 others because they were
$5. I could swear I've seen them in stores for less than $40. My gosh, some
of you guys with the 27 Poppery II's are practically millionaires and don't
even know it! Poppery I's must have a street value in the hundreds!
Oh well, have you seen the way photography equipment gets bid up on eBay...
nevermind, I don't want to get started on that.

I had my first taste of Monkey Blend espresso. I was floored by the
difference, it was so sweet I didn't need any sugar at all. I used up the
whole 4oz batch I had roasted two days previous. I must say that it is damn
fine! I must say I am becoming an insomnomanic. It takes 3 cups of chamomile
tea every evening to counteract all the coffee revelations I've been
enjoying in the day.

e-bay is like that, or should I say the people are like that. Most of the=

items you could get new for the same price, especially if you add shippin=
g
and the fact that you're buying used stuff.
Can you say Bidding frenzy?
Sheshhhhh.

Wholy freakin' cow!! That's totally nuts! Just a few weeks ago you couldn't GIVE Poppery II's away. Maybe people have figured out that West Bend quit making them almost a year ago? The thrift store supply should be plentiful, though. There were a LOT of PII's sold over the years that are still sitting mostly unused in kitchen cabinets. If I had a choice between spending $30 to $40 on a poppery or a roaster, I'd spring for the extra dough and get a Fresh Roast. Much more convenient to use (and I don't even own one). But, I have a HWG and a 'wb roaster', and both are easier to use than a popper due to less mess.

Hey, Doesn't that just frost ya? I put a Mark I Poppery on Ebay modified switch and thermostatically checked over and only got $19.50 for it. Some very nice home roaster from
Ohio got it and while I was happy for him, I thought I would have gotten more. Such is life. I would have put more of them up on ebay, but it didn't seem worth it. However, the
other stuff I put up there brought surprising results especially vintage computers. However, if you guys ever see them Poppery I's going on ebay for the hundreds Dave has hinted
at, let me know, I still haven't quite made enough money for a cruise yet.
Happy Roasting

Hi, Dick! Hey, I've got an IBM PS/2 Model 60 (286, 10MHz, co-processor, 40 Meg HD) in mint shape. Cutting edge technology in 1987. No, I don't still use it, but it's fun to tinker with still. Built like a tank and weighs a ton. One day it might actually be worth something....

Hi Dick;
If you would like to sell another (modified) popper roaster, then I would be
happy to buy it from you. I have a friend who has expressed interest in
coffee roasting, but he is on a very tight budget. I thought that I might
give him one, to help get him started. He was a little dissappointed when
he found out how much the new models were.
If I remember correctly, you live in the Okanagan don't you? I live down in
the lower mainland. Please let me know if you are interested.
Happy roasting!
