Looks like I missed something interesting! What is Crema 2000? And who is Jerone, I guess he lives in Holland, does he own a coffee shop? Scott <Snip> sampled his coffees, hospitality, and vast collection of moka pots, vac pots, and other misc. hardware. He's a first class coffee nut! <Snip> homeroast mailing listhttp://lists.sweetmarias.com/mailman/listinfo/homeroast |
Hi Scott,
Well I made contact with Jerone (HV to the Alt.Coffee group) in Holland
about the make up of a proper 5 ounce Crema (Cafe Suisse) and he had his web
page URL on the tag line - so I bounced over to take a look. I know that he
and Chris are friends and that he was going to be near Utrecht where Crema
2000 is being held. Crema is a meeting of Coffee Roasters and Espresso
Makers. The web site was current - so I have no idea why they didn't label
it Crema 2002 - except its possible that the effort began back then.
I don't believe he owns his own shop (Chris could best answer that) but
he just bought a factory refurbished commercial unit that should keep his
house packed with friends.

CREMA 2000 is a get-together of European coffeenuts. There's a posting about it at alt.coffee. Just search deja.com for CREMA 2000. Jeroen (a.k.a. "HV" on alt.coffee) is heading up the 'project' but it will be held at another Dutch coffee-nut's home here (don't remember the name). I think it's April 20th. Jeroen doesn't own a coffee shop, but is merely a poor college student who is totally nuts for coffee. Great guy. Correct. Jeroen is a law student at University of Utrecht. I've visited him several times and last time had the opportunity to go to the big, monthly flea market they have in Utrecht. He scores the majority of his coffee stuff at flea markets. No vac pots that time, but he did score a 10 cup stainless Guido Bergna moka pot for 3 Euro. It was new. Yup, 3 Euro, or about $2.75.
