i have found the sumatran a bit more difficult to roast because the cracks 
are not as definitive as with other beans however you should be able to hear 
first and second crack. are you using a roaster that is loud such as the HW 
Gourmet? if so you will develope over time the ability to discern the cracks 
over the noise of the gourmet.-guy from long island
