John, I don't know what your stash is like, but
I'd be impressed if it could hold a candle to
Mike's 580 pounds of assorted beans. Coffee
Snobs, indeed! At last check, I've got Yemen
Raimi, Harar Horse, 3 Guatemalans, El Salvador
Pipil, Nicaraguan Matagalpa, Columbian "Condor",
C.R. "La Pastora", Tanzanian Ruvuma Peaberry,
Indian Pearl Mountain, Peru CO2 decaf, Ethiopian
Ghimbi decaf, Sumatra Decaf, Ethiopian Yirg
decaf, and a bit of idiotic Indian "Mysore
Nuggets". Total Weight: about 15 pounds.
Do I qualify?
Cheers,
Paul

Maybe an appointment Paul. The posted qualifications said that you had to
have at least six ways to brews. But You certainly fit the model so far.
I'm sitting here looking at 34 pounds of a variety of greens and wondering
if I even know whets in all those bags and boxes :O) It doesn't take long
to build tonnage when you order everything in either 5 or 20 pound lots. Of
course if Mike wants to make a serious run for the presidency his trip to
Hawaii for the cupping would probably put him in a front running position.
My only claim is that I have converted a dozen people to home roasting, and
I'm VERY opinionated about which beans are best.
John - I've got to go order something now - just don't know what :O)

Hey I want to get on the ballot!!! How many out their have imploded a
vacuum pot. I have been home roasting for 16 years!!! I even tried to grow
my own coffee tree in Wisconsin when I lived there!!! How many people dream
and plan a trip to St. Helena? I have had up to 58 different greens at a
time!!! I am currently down to 24 and around 45 lbs. In my youth, (21) I
had to chance and took it to pick wild coffee while living in West Africa
(run - away Robusta) and roasted it on the stove, ground it in a meat
grinder and brewed it cowboy style. It was a good stout cup!. Who knows
maybe the parent seed had gone through a monkey. I have swilled some Kopi
too!!! While in college and graduate school when quanity was all there was,
I consumed between 20 and 30 cups a day!! It sure is nice to see the humor
coming back into the threads!!! Other qualifications and references upon
request! Another qualification is that my wife thinks I am way over the
edge.

Les,
I'd say your "picked coffee and made it cowboy style in Africa" would
just about be all you'd need to get on the ticket. We are pretty sticky
about having multiple brewing methods - so Cowboy in Africa should count for
two - you got a couple of more ;O)
After talking with Charlie up in BC I've been day dreaming about taking
a trip down into Mexico this fall to tour a couple of Fincas. But I might
put my beloved back to work for a shot at St. Helena!! Of course being a
CSA member I should throw in - I was in St. Helena last month.. Yeah .. OK
it was the one in California - but I bought some coffee :O)
Good Cupping
John

Oh rats!
I really wanted to be a member and help "internationalize" your
organization. But, I am a horrible failure.
First I thought that even though I don't homeroast (no, I am not proud of
it-but my wife already is suffering from migraines even before i start
grinding my beans-can you imagine what would be if i roasted?) I have a
Zass, converted my 3 son-in-laws to grinding their own and bought them
Zass'. I sent a Zass to a friend with Leukemia.
I haven't touched Instant "what's it called" for over 3 years.
But today i learned that i will never make the grain.
I took my mother to visit another elderly lady and we were asked want we
want to drink. Coffee, tea or something cold. Well I, a true Coffee lover
said "something cold" knowing that her coffee could not be mine-Ay, there's
the rub!
I politely asked for something cold-that is not a true CSA response. My
mother asked for Coffee and the hostess said, "You'll drink instant?" My Mom
said yes and while pouring the cup the hostess non-chalantly said "I don't
touch the stuff and can't stand its smell."
I told her that I would put her up as the international Coffee Snob-and she
rebutted, "No, I'm no snob!"
Well, she is a shoe in, right? So blunt with her comment about Instant and
so unaware of her "snobbery".
All the best, and keep those posts rolling-what is a good cup of coffee
without the added value of such high caliber content.

Hi Myron,
Have you been to the Tel Aviv Restaurant where the fancy dishes only contain
air? I might be able to play along until they gave me the empty coffee cup!
Of course a coffee snob could ooh and ahh over the nuances of the cup so
much that every one else would say "I want what he has!"
