<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> Message I just posted a message about the Zassenhaus grain mill vis a vis an upmarket consumer electric grinder, so now I'd like to ask about this particular electric grinder. Anyone had experience with it? I googled through alt.coffee and learned that there were occasional problems with the control board, but that the company that sells them provides good service, so I'm not really concerned about that. Specification wise it seems to be a more powerful machine than the Rocky doserless (I think I want a doserless machine), and sells for a great deal less money. Anybody with positive or negative experience with it? Thank you. Stephen Jones |
Hi Stephan, Reports were enthusiastic until the control board problem emerged. The grinder has the specs of a medium sized pro grinder, i.e. 64mm discs and a 1/3 HP motor. The dosing cone is easier to clear of residual grounds than the elephant trunk design of other doserless models. And the timer produced grind weights with very tight tolerances. It seemed comparable to the $600 Mazzer Mini E. Basically, this is a hell of a grinder for the price, but corners were cut to get it down to this price. I purchased one in early June from Cora Inc, and so far it has been great. I like the timed grinder, and the chute is easy to keep clean. When we first got it, it was used once a day, but now that we have an espresso machine, we use it twice daily. I am still a newbie in this hobby, but I can tell you it immediately made a difference in our French Press coffee (previously used a 10 year old krups whirly chop). Jason Fink Albuquerque <Snip> |
