Can't believe I haven't seen a monday morning cuppa thread yet. Today is my first deliberate attempt at blending. I blended 2/3 Brazilian Morenhina Formosa at FC+ and 1/3 Costa Rican Finca Tono Miel at a C+ or a light FC and made myself a monday morning cappuccino. I have blended beans before, but that was more a "let's just experiment". This is my first "Here's my bean stash, what am I going to roast and blend and how am I going to do it" move. VERY nice cappuccino. I pull triple ristrettos and the shot was almost solid crema. The brazilian has this caramel milk chocolate explosion... the costa rican pulls a high bright fruited note into the mix without being overpowering. One of my best caps in a while. Too bad I'm almost out of the miel :) -- Gary F. This morning I had a cup of Brazil Poco Fundo roasted to City+ in the Gene Cafe on Friday. I love this coffee, and generally roast it at least to Full City for espresso (primarily) and drip (sometimes). I figured I would try something different and roast it lighter this time around. The result is a good coffee but not a great one. I find the body somewhat thin, with nutty and fruity notes that are more muted than many other DP coffees. While it is enjoyable enough, this bean really soars at darker roast levels. It was an interesting change of pace, though. -Scotto On Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 10:56 AM, Gary Foster wrote: <Snip> -- scottoscoffeeandtea.blogspot.com Homeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20">http://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee.comHomeroast community pictures -upload yours!) :http://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20

Roasted some Columbia Huila Valencia FC/FC+ on 20 July. It has been okay to pretty good. This morning I opened three canisters and sniffed each trying to decide which to brew. I saw oil on the Colombian, looked at the date, and figured I'd better use it up before it went rancid. Ground 33 grams and brewed two mugs in the chemex. Boy oh boy! If anyone bought too much of it, I'd be interested in getting some more. -- Paul Helbert Mid Atlantic Home Roaster's Gatheringhttp://paul.helbert.googlepages.com/midatlantichomeroaster'sgatheringHomeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20">http://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee.comHomeroast community pictures -upload yours!) :http://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20

This morning I had the last of the Kona Moki's Farm. A very enjoyable cup ground with the Zass and brewed in the TV. A very nice cup of coffee. All the complexity of a Kona and very nice aftertaste, clean and crisp. I have some Idido Misty Valley resting, and I sitll have some of the Columbian 4 star that will be up to bat tomorrow. Well this morning it a 12 hour old cup of Nicaragua Limoncillo Java at a City +. I was craving something lighter/brighter yesterday so this was my solution. I have had this before and really like it. Put unfortunately I do not have Tom's pallet and can not name the flavors. But it has good mouth feel, bright taste and changes as it cools. While enjoying this cup I was reading about $B new purchase of the company that makes the Clover coffee maker ($11,000 a pop). I am posting the story and there is a video clip that goes with it. Very interesting that $B thinks this machine that requires a individual operator, bean specific brewing profile, and let not forget good beans will help them. ------------------------------ Alex Fitch Alex Homeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20">http://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee.comHomeroast community pictures -upload yours!) :http://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20

I would like to think that they would not allow a $4 plus cup o coffee from an $11,000 machine to be served in paper..... but it is $B ------------------------------ Alex Fitch Alex On Aug 25, 2008, at 9:28 AM, Paul Helbert wrote: <Snip> Homeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20">http://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee.comHomeroast community pictures -upload yours!) :http://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20

This morning was the last of my roasted Columbian 4-star El Roble. I starte= d drinking it 12 or so hours after roasting and now I'm on about 4 days res= t. I brewed it in a pourover, vacuum pot and french press. All stages were = good, however the fruit really emerged after a couple days rest. Glad I sti= ll have a half pound left. Need to do some roasting tonight. I'm moving on Friday so I'll need coffee = to get me through the week and then enough to last the weekend while I'm un= packing. Not sure what I want to drink the next couple days, but I'll proba= bly roast some Yemen for the weekend. By the time I get around to brewing i= t should be nice and rested.
