| BTW, does anybody know how to make a Virtuoso grind finer? I have done the recalibration per Baratza's instructions, and adjusted the inner rings as far as they'll go, but "0" is still fairly coarse, and the burrs are still .5 mm away from each other. My next attempt was to be put a thin washer under the cone burr to lift it up, then do a recalibration again. Any thoughts? | Sounds to me as if you might have a problem which I am sure the Baratza folks would help you solve. They have given me very good service. Phone number is in the manual and also on line. -- Paul Helbert Mid Atlantic Home Roaster's Gatheringhttp://paul.helbert.googlepages.com/midatlantichomeroaster'sgatheringHomeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20">http://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee.comHomeroast community pictures -upload yours!) :http://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20 |
| Baratza support responds very quickly to emails and you can call them, as well. I re-calibrated my Maestro and had no trouble getting the burrs to touch. | The Grind Adjustment Ring needs to be adjusted towards the finer pitch (Burrs closer). My problem was the exact opposite, but its New Owner (another Ray) in its New Home was thoroughly happy with it as delivered, especially with the new Virtuoso burrs. The actual adjustment is straightforward, nearly obvious. You can wind up losing a little ball, and/ or its spring. Beware! It's been nearly two years since I last saw it, so you'll get much better directions from Baratza. Pray you're not so unfortunate as to talk to a certain catatonic French fry flipper in Step 13, doing his externship posing as Customer Service for Baratza. They ship these grinders however they happen to fall together. Mine was an interference adjustment three steps below Drip. You pays your money, and What You See Is What You Get. Sorry, but you just have to adjust it. Cheers, Mabuhay -RayO, aka Opa!
