And since the fix has worked for others, it wasn't true in their case either. | I'm in the ballpark that there must be roasters running cold. I'm not a handy-woman and I don't own a kill-a-watt or a whatnot, but my home was built in 2005, and I should be able to trust the wiring, and I usually roast late at night, no extension cord. Once I made "the fix", I shaved 4 minutes off my time to first crack on a 1/2 lb batch. I did over 100 roasts prior to "the fix", and my roast times were consistent. I had a feeling they were just too long. There was no way I could follow Les's advice because my roast times were so much longer. I could never run 1/2 lb on the 1/2 lb setting because I would run out of time, for example, on P2, if it took 12 minutes to 1c, I would need to set the program at 12 / .6 = 20 minutes to get the drop at the right spot. Can not do on 1/2 lb setting. I have done about 10 roasts post fix, and the 4 minutes is also consistent. Now, I get to 1C on average at 8 min. elapsed, vs. 12 minutes before. I couldn't exactly measure the amount of the gap I created, they recommended to start with 1/8 in, and if it didn't have an effect, go to 1/4 inch. I got what I got, and I can't go back and make it smaller.
