Hello fellow homeroasters,
I ran my iRoast2 yesterday using 150g of Sumatran Mandheling, and a
profile that I thought would take it to about FC+. For whatever reason
it fell short, with a lot of unevenness in color, lots of chaff hanging
on, and more of a baked rather than roasted aroma...ugh. The only
obvious thing under my control that I could change was to make sure all
seals around the roast chamber and chaff collector were as tight as
possible, so I roasted another 150g worth today, and everything worked
fine. This gave me the idea of re-roasting yesterday's batch, which I
did about a half hour later, and while the beans look better than before
(even color and less chaff), their aroma/flavor still aren't quite on a
par with my first roast today. I didn't taste the "baked" beans before
re-roasting, so I guess my question is: did the re-roast also help the
flavor enough to make it worth the trouble? What experiences have other
list members with reroasting?
Thanks!
Bill
