| Have I missed discussion on this bean? I did my first roast of this yesterday and got a nice C+/FC roast resting and ready for my afternoon cup. cheers, Scott Homeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20">http://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee.comHomeroast community pictures -upload yours!) :http://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20 |
| Scott, Please give a review! It is on by "maybe I ought to order" list. In as much as the stash is in good shape, I have been holding off. However, I see the Warbler is "low stock." and I am not sure how much I have left. I was going to check the stash today. Using Tom's new Columbia system, the Warbler would be a 4 Star coffee. That makes it a 4 star coffee at a 1 star price! | Not to hijack this thread, but to reply to your post, Les, I can't believe that there's any warbler left! Tom must have gotten a bunch of that stuff. I bought 2 10 lb bags, roasted mainly as gifts for people. I like to give them a nice coffee like a Colombian because I think that's pretty easy to recognize the quality! Anyway, I can't believe that there is any of the warbler still around. I think I'll be buying the Cauca 2-star when I next make a purchase. I need to assess my cooler...it's way too full, but this WP Koratie needs to have another 10 in my cooler. I bought 5 lbs and it's knocking my socks off, so I need more. Enough rambling. have a great weekend, all! bill Homeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20">http://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee.comHomeroast community pictures -upload yours!) :http://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20 |
| Sweet Marias keeps the coffees coming so fast, it is hard to know what to buy or roast next. I have at least 5 coffees in the stash that I have not tried yet. The WP Koratie being one of them. It is next up on the roast schedule as well as a Brazil that I have not tried. I roasted a pound of the WP Koratie and sent it to my parents. I did a bean crunch and it was yummy. However the Kenya Thika Chania - French Mission Cultivar looks like a unique interesting coffee. I continue to read carefully the write-ups by Tom and try to get the unique of the coffees. It is hard to balance trying different coffees with getting what you really like. I think I will start a thread to discuss that very issue. I have gone through 30 pounds of Warbler. | This is perhaps one of those rare times when I can say I was able to catch all the flavors and aromas mentioned in the notes for the bean. In general, I'm not a fan of overly citrusy Kenyas and this is definetely more low toned, with darker fruit notes. The chocolate/bittersweet element in the aroma is fantastic. I mean, it blew me away. My girlfriend has a pretty good nose & palate and it WOWED her. She's not easily impressed. The comparison to a Rwanda Bourbon seems right on to me, also. If you like the Rwanda Gkongoro Nyarusiza, this Kenya will also be a good choice. cheers, Scott --> loving the aromas this coffee left in the kitchen.... | A French Press of this bean now at 2+ days rest to start the day. This coffee really shines. Currant fruit flavors are significant as the cup cools. The body and mouthfeel are rich and wonderful. This is a keeper from Kenya! cheers, Scott On Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 8:51 PM, Scott Miller wrote: <Snip> Homeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20">http://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee.comHomeroast community pictures -upload yours!) :http://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemIdx20 |
