Greetings, group, = I enjoyed this coffee and Tom has apparently decided not to carry it. Whil= e I scrupulously stick with Sweet Maria's coffees (and have never been disa= ppointed) I find that I would like to have a little of it. I did purchase = some some years ago from another retailer and the quality was dreadful. Ca= n anyone steer me to a solid retailer for this coffee? = = I mean nothing but the best for our hosts and seek only this one coffee. = I would welcome replies off-list to robotyonderathotmail.com. = robert yoder = = = Get thousands of games on your PC, your mobile phone, and the web with Wind= ows®.http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/108588800/direct/01/Homeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee=.com Homeroast community pictures -upload yours!) :http://www.sweetmariascoffee=.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=7820

The problem is, if Tom doesn't carry this one, it isn't cause he doesn't want to, it is because it didn't cup well, and there isn't any good stuff to be found. I don't recall, but I would say we are a few months away from the current crop of Yauco, so what you got are able to get right now would be a bit baggy. Early crop is usually not good, so unless you have emailed Tom off list and he said he isn't going to carry it, I would wait. Thanks, Les, for your response. I always appreciate and learn from your pos= ts. = If I recall correctly, Tom didn't think the coffee particularly notable, bu= t Tom has vastly more refined criteria than I. Some coffees liked by Tom a= re not to my taste, and there's certainly nothing wrong with that, and even= a superficial reading of this list supports the notion that not all coffee= s are favored by all folks. That's what other folks do! I miss the Yauco w= hich Tom did sell years ago. I wonder if the Specialty Coffee area might s= ometimes favor the esoteric. This is not a criticism but perhaps more an a= dmission of a plebian palate on my part. I must say I did feel good when a= nother regular list person mentioned it not so long ago, so perhaps I'm not= the only one who enjoys/ed this coffee. = de gustibus non disputandum est (sp?) = I will try to email SM's and ask again and I thank you for your notes about= optimum purchase period. = robert = Your wonderful and instructive post about the Espresso Summit with Alchemis= t John was nearly enough to make me want to move north! = robert> Date: Sun, 24 Aug 2008 20:34:48 -0700> From: les.albjerg>= To: homeroast> Subject: Re: [Homeroast] Puerto= Rico Yauco Selecto AA> > The problem is, if Tom doesn't carry this one, it= isn't cause he> doesn't want to, it is because it didn't cup well, and the= re isn't any> good stuff to be found. Robert, If you google, you will find some other sources but just to = warn you, what you get will most likely not be recognizable as the = coffee you are looking for once you taste it. One of the hardest = lessons to learn about quality coffee is that it is a very = inconsistent agricultural product. The beans from the same tree = processed the same way will not taste the same from year to year. In = fact, the beans picked early will taste different from the later = pickings even if they are processed the same way. That is why having = someone like Tom cup the coffee by batches is important. The best you = can do is have a choice of the best coffees available at a given = time. Efforts to repeat a wonderful taste experience based on brand = for producer is destined to failure. I was told this many years ago = but I was too stubborn to listen so I had to learn the hard way, my = guess is that you will too. Well, watching a radar with showing a tornado vortex head my way = this morning. The cell is about 40 minutes away, I'll watch and see = if it holds up. Fay has already blown down more than half of my pecan = crop, hope it does not do more. pecan jim On Aug 24, 2008, at 11:00 PM, Robert Yoder wrote: <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> m = <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> <Snip> etmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee.com = <Snip> coffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=7820 = <Snip> <Snip> riascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee.com = <Snip> ffee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=7820 <Snip> <Snip> ee.com <Snip> ee.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=7820 Homeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee=.com Homeroast community pictures -upload yours!) :http://www.sweetmariascoffee=.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=7820

Robert Some years a coffee like Yauco is just not available at an acceptable cup quality usually do to weather conditions. As you mentioned it can be dreadful if conditions are just not favorable. Tom could pickup the best he could find during such times but you would be disappointed with it and would have wasted considerable $ as this coffee is not cheap. The good thing with Tom is the fact that he is careful for OUR benefit. Ed On Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 12:00 AM, Robert Yoder wrote: <Snip> another retailer and the quality was dreadful.
